Book Cover Design
This project explores two distinct approaches to book cover design—both grounded in concept, mood, and typography. I reimagined the jackets for Joan Didion’s Blue Nights and Justin Halpern’s Sh*t My Dad Says, designing front, spine, and back covers with attention to narrative tone and visual hierarchy.
For Blue Nights, I focused on evoking the introspective, haunting nature of the memoir through soft gradients, spacious type, and a subtle color palette. For Sh*t My Dad Says, the tone shifted entirely—toward boldness, irreverence, and visual punch. Each layout was designed with attention to balance, pacing, and legibility, using a tailored typographic system and visual metaphor appropriate to the content.
I handled the entire process—from initial concept development and design sketching to typesetting and production-ready layout. These designs were also physically printed as full jacket wraps.
